Sales Success For Small Business
11/19/2009 8:24:07 AM
Due to the current economy there is a lot of doom and gloom that  small business owners face daily.  Will you see the glass half full or half empty?   Many business owners see the glass as empty and their business at the bottom, with little chance for recovery.  Some of these business owners are your competitors and perhaps you have experienced a sales slow down.    This is a time to reflect back to your business plan and to concentrate on "why,"  you decided to hang out your small business shingle.   Now is a great time to grow or start a small business because the competition is getting weak.  Many are throwing in the towel and are shying away from sound business basics.  All business owners have experienced sales slumps, quarters that were better than others and seemingly unsurmountable challenges.  It's how we deal with adversity that determines our mettle.  Plenty of business currently exists while the competion is relaxing.  Your goal is to increase your market share and brand awareness.  The key will involve getting back to the basics.  Pick up the phone, push yourself to escape call reluctance.  Slow periods are an excellent time to spend a few extra minutes chatting with prospects.  It's also a great time to ask suppliers for pricing concessions.  These types of activities will start to increase your current sales activity and position your business for even more success when the market conditions improve.  Make the decision to fill your glass and to create extraordinary success.  Use free marketing items to advertise, increase your sales and to maintain contact with customers.  Get free business cards, free postcards, free websites, free email marketing, free fax trial, (free) toll-free phone number trial, free color copiers and more.
Money Talks

Business owners will sometimes avoid conversations about money.  To ensure the success of your business, you must talk about money with your accountant, financial planner, tax preparer, insurance agent, attorney and other small business owners. In fact, the more you talk about money, the more comfortable you may become  about the subject.  Money talks whether your business is thriving or experiencing challenges.  Money will want you to understand it when bills are being paid and especially when they are not being paid.  Listen to your finances to get a better understanding.  Learn to improve your cash flow by meeting regularly with your most trusted advisors and resources and your money will smile more.  Then it will be your turn to tell money what to do.   Many small business owners and professional athletes will go through lots of cash without having a respect for money.  Change the game,  when money talks be sure to listen.
