Promoting from within will bring you countless rewards and satisfaction. Promoting from within should not be viewed in a human resources function, but as an internal objective. It's about bringing out your best. All small business owners will have goals and objectives to reach. The key is to avoid having your business define you. Make it your aim to create core values that promote honesty, trust and integrity regardless of your business volume. Your customers can choose to do business with anyone. They will prefer to do business with someone that has a strong character versus price alone. Ever notice that some gas stations have competition from 2 or 3 other gas stations at the same intersection, yet customers still patronize the more expensive store? Perhaps gas will costs 3 cents more per gallon, but the owner insists that the restrooms are spotless and may pay a bit more to attract customer friendly employees. Give your customers a reason to stay loyal. Start by setting high standards that you believe in and focus on quality. Doing so will result in higher customer satisfaction and you'll feel better too. |
